Hg is a London-headquartered private equity firm that specialises in software and services companies, a focus it has held exclusively since its 2012 vintage. The firm traces its roots to Mercury Private Equity in 1990 and became independent as HgCapital in 2000. As of 30 June 2026 it manages more than $110 billion for over 200 institutional investors, with around 420 staff in London, Munich, Paris, New York, San Francisco and Singapore and a portfolio of some 60 companies worth over $195 billion in combined enterprise value. Nic Humphries is senior partner and executive chair, Steven Batchelor and Jean-Baptiste Brian are managing partners and co-chief executives, and Matthew Brockman is chief investment officer. Hg Wealth, the unit created in 2022 and run by partner Martina Sanow, serves private investors and manages Hg Fusion.
