Moonfare Core III is the 2024 vintage of Moonfare’s diversified fund-of-funds programme, offered as a closed-end Luxembourg partnership. It commits to eight to twelve institutional-quality buyout funds to gain exposure to well over a hundred mid-to-large-cap companies in North America and Europe — a one-ticket private equity allocation for investors who cannot or do not want to pick individual managers. Moonfare’s earlier portfolio funds give a sense of scale: Core Portfolio II closed above €100 million in May 2023 with roughly a fifth of Moonfare’s investors participating, and the first Buyout Portfolio closed at €70 million, 40% above its target.

Core Portfolio II close, May 2023
A twelve-year term with two possible two-year extensions means a realistic horizon of 2036 to 2040. Capital is drawn in calls as the underlying funds invest and returned as they exit. The fund is denominated in US dollars with a minimum investment of $50,000, and Moonfare has described its portfolio funds as charging approximately 1% a year plus 10% carried interest on top of the underlying managers’ own fees. Exact terms, the list of underlying funds and performance data are shown only to eligible investors on the Moonfare platform.
A note on naming: Moonfare now markets this product line as “Buyout Portfolio”, and its public pages describe Buyout Portfolio II, targeting ten funds, as the current vintage. Fundscouter’s record predates that rebranding; the terms in this profile are those Moonfare gave for the 2024 vintage. There is no secondary market, so the full term should be treated as a lock-up.
